Jerry Mahoney

Director of Writing and Strategic Services

Co-founder

Jerry expects the written word to work hard as it competes for attention and comprehension in a noisy, crowded marketplace. The many vehicles of corporate communication, from websites to news releases to tweets, should deliver clear, useful information and messaging that meets the needs of clients and their audiences. This philosophy underpins Mahoney Lyle’s wide-ranging writing services.

Before co-founding Mahoney Lyle, Jerry served as director of writing services for Loomis Group, an integrated, international marketing agency. In addition to managing the agency’s writing department, he was an active member of agency teams that counseled clients in the U.S. and Europe on public relations, strategic communications and branding.

He first developed his keen sense of targeted, strategic messaging while serving as press secretary to the governor of a U.S. state and director of corporate communications for a fast-growing U.S. restaurant company.

Jerry honed his ability to clearly explain business and technical topics during stints as a reporter, tech writer and business editor at U.S. metropolitan newspapers, and as a contributor to a Silicon Valley business magazine. During his career in journalism, Jerry covered computers, semiconductors and software, corporate financing, economic development and higher education. As a tech reporter, he followed the trials and triumphs of fast-growing companies on their quest for venture capital financing and through the hard work of IPOs.

Jerry learned to love the outdoors while growing up in the Rocky Mountain West. He took his enjoyment of skiing and hiking to the next level after moving to Switzerland.

He has completed professional-level courses in team building and strategic leadership, and earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wyoming and a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School.
